Brooks Automation supports Analytik Jena

 

Due to the EHEC infections occurring at the moment and the, in some cases, highly dramatic clinical pictures involved, fast and reliable diagnostic identification of microorganisms is extremely important. Analytik Jena AG has succeeded in developing a quick EHEC test for mobile use.

Brooks RFID Division is supporting Analytik Jena with the introduction of a new control and monitoring system at instrumental analysis facilities.
The facilities involved are spectrometers and they are used to analyze chemical elements, molecules, and molecular structures. A prepared sample is placed in the device, irradiated, and broken down in order to obtain certain measurements in a detector. Concentration and amount provide information about the unknown substance.

For this purpose, many different illuminants are used which are attached to the inside of a rotary, star-shaped system with connector coding and are selected according to the type of investigation.
This selection and preselection of illuminants is controlled with the aid of RFID. The aims are to control procedure and document all the process steps and measurements in order to obtain verifiable analyses later.
