Improved LONtoProfibus Gateway from Brooks Automation
LON networks become easier to handle with the aid of the Profibus programming technique
With the release of a new version of its LONtoProfibus Gateway, Brooks Automation is helping out its customers by ensuring that easy handling is possible without extensive LON know-how.
With the release of a new version of its LONtoProfibus Gateway, Brooks Automation is helping out its customers by ensuring that easy handling is possible without extensive LON know-how. The only requirement is that the Gateway and LON components are located in the same domains.
The LONtoProfibus-DP Gateway creates a connection between a LON network and a Profibus-DP Master. It enables the Master to retrieve or specify component network variables in the LON network systematically.
In the new Gateway version, different parameters like node IDs, subnets or domains do not have to be set via LON itself, but can also be specified via the Profibus-DP Master. This enables the Gateway to be configured directly from the Profibus without special LON tools.
Another new feature is that the device’s slave address is adjusted in the Profibus network directly within the device via rotary switch. This makes device installation or replacement easier and quicker to execute. As the Gateway operates via explicit messages, no connection to the LON network is required. This makes the Gateway easier to install.
Additional functions and upgrades (e.g. activating new LON nodes) can be realized at a later point without the need for any links.
The new Gateway version is available from Brooks Automation now! For technical information, go to www.brooks-rfid.com.
