RFID chip in brain– interactive energy exhibition of Zurich electricity Works (ewz)
An interactive energy exhibition was opened in the customer center of ewz, Zurich in April 2010. So-called "energy tables" present the visitor with information on various energy topics when he or she places certain objects on them - including a modelled synthetic brain.
This interactive solution was realised through the cooperation of various partner companies using products from Brooks RFID.
Since the end of April, the topic of energy can be experienced in a playful and interactive way in the customer center of the electricity works in Zurich (ewz). This public exhibition makes visitors more sensitive to the needs to interact with the environment sparingly.
In the exhibition, over 36 different objects – including the brain model - are presented in a type of library. They reveal their relevance to the topic if energy when they are placed on the "energy tables". Monitors integrated horizontally into the tables provide picture, text and film information as soon as an object is placed on the table. This action is started by a solution from RFID integrated into the table and in the objects.
In this way, visitors are provided with answers on daily questions regarding the topic of energy.
The multimedia solution has been implemented by the Swiss companies Birdsong and VistaSys - a partner of Brooks - using Brooks RFID hardware. Birdsong was responsible for the overall concept and was supported by VistaSys in embedding RFID.
RFID scanners from the HF70 Series are integrated into the tables. They have an Ethernet connection and can therefore be easily connected to the central control system. The scanners communicate with cylindrical transponders that are cast into the exhibited objects.
