Brooks Automation delivers RFID Systems to wafer manufactures in Malaysia

 

Brooks Automation received an order from Malaysia. In September of 2009 various RFID reader units were delivered to a wafer manufacturer. (A wafer is a silicium disk forming the basis of the production of microchips or solar modules.) In addition to the delivery of the hardware Brooks will be supporting the customer during the installation of the products.

A Malaysian disk manufacturer is equipping its 200mm factory with RFID technology and has given the nod to Brooks RFID division as the supplier. Brooks won the contract against several international competitors and received the bid on the basis of the high quality of its products and its many years of experience in the RFID business.

In September of 2009 the Malaysian customer received delivery of stationary and mobile readers from the German city of Mistelgau. The stationary readers will be directly integrated into the production machines for rack identification. Mobile readers equipped with USB connections are in use for tracking and tracing during production and for identification in the interim storage facilities. Brooks is sending technicians to Malaysia who will provide direct local support during the installation of the equipment.

The RFID hardware from Germany will become an important component of the quality assurance during production. By means of an assured identification of the individual racks the orders will be processed with the proper recipe and in this way waste greatly reduced.
